Future-Matters
Overview

Future Matters’ is a theatre presentation aimed at year 7 and 8 students in the Pupil Premium Cohort. The Pupil Premium is additional funding given to schools so that they can support their disadvantaged pupils and close the attainment gap between them and their peers. This show explains the importance of education, inspires pupils to set achievable goals and increases motivation whilst raising aspirations for the future.

Key Aims

  • Help raise pupils’ attainment and aspirations.
  • Increase awareness of the importance of education.
  • Illustrate barriers to attainment, e.g. home life, social life, friends and peer groups.
  • To support enrichment activities through the Pupil Premium Grant.

Synopsis

‘Future Matters’ is written and produced as a sequel to the transition show ‘Moving Up’, and continues the story of main characters Chris and Sophie. Having survived the transition from primary school, they now begin a new adventure at secondary school.

For a string of misdemeanours both Chris and Sophie receive an after school detention and quickly discover the importance of making the most of your time at school and the value of education. It is a fun and entertaining piece of theatre, full of comedic scenes and relevant characters with a strong overall message – The Future Matters.

Testimonies

“We were very impressed by the performance and follow up activities on Friday. I have rarely seen our students so fully engaged.”

David Inglis – SAC Year 7.

“Our students clearly enjoyed the performance and I thought it catered for our needs very effectively indeed. I also enjoyed the flying start to the workshop which also went tremendously well.”

Peter Groves – Assistant Head Culcheth High.

The ‘Future Matters’ Pupil Premium Workshop

The Pupil Premium educational theatre presentation ‘Future Matters’ caters for larger cohorts. If you feel a more interactive session would suit a smaller group of pupils (up to 35), an interactive workshop is available as a more focused approach to addressing the attainment gap.
